We are down to three brood cows. It is the plan. To transition from a herd to feeder calves each year. It is not an overnight thing, it has another two years to run it’s course. I’m glad we will have these cows to put a smackdown on the calves we bring on farm. The alpha cow has low tolerance for shenanigans.
They are good girls, we adapted for the region, and well able to get by in this season where the pastures browned so early.
