New Calves
New steer calves arrived this afternoon. Three Highlander crosses (the two golden and the brindle) and a Galloway cross (he’s the one with the white splash in the midsection). They’ll be on their own for a few weeks, eating hay and some stress sprinkles. They will be allowed a small pasture area and get their
Updates!
A busy Spring led into a busy Summer here at the Trice House. I worked a chunk of nursery season for Bonnie, ministered 1-2 events per week and still going today. Crystal has been busy working, working and then working some more spreading Truth, justice and the American way locally and some interesting long distance
Lagging
Wow, it’s been so long since we posted on our own blog! Shocking, disgraceful, lagging! Let’s catch up. In late Summer and Fall of 2022 I ran for a seat in the Oregon State legislature. It was an experience, a challenge a number of lessons learned and quite a shocking bit of confirmation bias confirmed.

Baby Birds
We got some chicks to brood from Wilco yesterday. This year it’s Color Pack and I got five Rhode Island Reds that were overstock and only $1.00 each. Good deal! Boy watched Crystal as she lifted each chick out of the box and set them in the brooder. He was so worked up! He wasn’t
Started Tomatoes
We made some 2″ soil blocks and started tomatoes this afternoon. Principe BorgheseSolanum lycopersicum. Red Paste/Drying. 70 days. Indeterminate. Classic Italian sun drying tomato. Red pointy plums with thick flesh and skin. Its viney plants grow tall enough for a trellis, and yield very late into the season. We will dry for winter use. When
Yummy Frank
Picked up Frank today from Sharp’s Custom Cutting in Hubbard. Crystal does well with the cut sheet. Our yield is 81% from hanging weight. I am looking forward to the yummy, yummy beef.Today was processing day for
Seed Orders
So nice. The corn seed arrived last night. We walked down to the mailbox this morning and there it was! Painted Mountain Corn from High Mowing in Vermont. It is going to make a great crop for us this year. Good for roasting when fresh, good for drying and grinding, or feeding to animals. So
