Close! The National Weather Service says Rain starting Friday! Yay! I am excited. That week of extreme heat burnt a lot around the farm. It put the pastures down hard. When Crystal called our hay suppliers one said he normally gets eight tons an acre, but this year the yield was only two . . . There is enough forage for the small amount of beeves we’re running currently. Once the rain starts everything will perk up and we’ll add some feeder calves. Beef, it’s what’s for dinner.
A week of extreme heat that early in the Summer isn’t new. There was one nearly as harsh in 2004. No grasshopper plague, so we are good.
